Private Drivers & Chauffeur Service in Saint Barthélemy
There is no Uber on St Barth. The official taxi service is small, the stand at Gustaf III Airport gets congested in high season, and waiting times can stretch past forty minutes when several flights land at once. For most guests, the cleaner option is a pre-booked private driver. One number, one vehicle, on call from arrival to departure.
The drivers I work with are English-speaking, discreet, and know every road on the island. They drive Mercedes V-Class for families, Range Rover or Defender for larger groups, and clean sedans for couples. The vehicle is matched to your party, your luggage, and the access road of your villa.
What I Arrange
- VIP airport meet-and-greet at Gustaf III, with luggage handling and direct transfer to your villa or hotel
- Hourly chauffeur for dinner runs in Gustavia, Saint-Jean, or Lorient, with the driver waiting outside while you eat
- Full-day private driver for island tours, beach hopping, lunch on the other side of the island, multi-stop afternoons
- Late-night pickups after Bonito, Bagatelle, Le Ti Saint Barth, Nikki Beach, or Shellona
- Yacht-side transfers from the Gustavia quay or AJOE pier to your villa or to dinner
- Inter-villa shuttling for groups split across multiple properties
- Standby driver for the full stay, on call within ten minutes
Why a Pre-Booked Driver Beats the Taxi Stand
On a normal day in May, the airport taxi rank works fine. In peak weeks (Christmas, New Year, February, Easter, Bucket Regatta) it does not. Supply is fixed, demand triples, and the queue moves slowly because each ride takes the driver across the island and back. A pre-booked private driver is the only way to walk off your flight and into a moving vehicle without delay.
The same logic applies in the evening. Taxis stop running early. After 10 p.m., a driver you have not pre-arranged is essentially impossible to find. A chauffeur on call solves the problem before it appears.
Who Uses This Service
Guests who want to drink at dinner without worrying about the drive home. Families who do not want to navigate the steep road to a Lurin or Colombier villa at night. Couples staying in Gouverneur who prefer to relax than to learn the island. Yacht owners who tender in for dinner and need a clean handoff to the restaurant. Anyone who has driven these roads before and decided once is enough.
If you want the freedom of your own vehicle for parts of the trip, see car rental in St Barth. Many guests combine both, a Mini Moke during the day, a private driver for dinner.
